Job Description
: An insurance regulatory consulting firm, with a national scope, is seeking a Director of Financial Services who has significant accounting and project management experience. The firm’s clients include insurance companies, state insurance regulators, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), law firms, and accounting firms.
The successful candidate will be a CPA, will likely have been a “Senior Manager” at a major public accounting firm, and will have extensive demonstrated experience in insurance accounting. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical, oral and written communication, and accounting skills and will have demonstrated proficiency in Statutory and GAAP insurance accounting. Working experience with state insurance regulators is a plus.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Serve as the engagement manager on specific client accounts/projects, taking significant overall responsibility for the engagement.
- Manage firm’s consultants according to project needs. (Firm’s consultants are highly specialized with legal, actuarial, and accounting expertise.)
- Manage multiple client projects simultaneously.
- Actively participate in proposal developments and responses to requests for proposal.
- Review and/or prepare engagement scope and planning documents.
- Develop and maintain excellent client relationships through frequent client contact.
- Recognize and resolve potential or existing problems with appropriate research and consulting, as necessary.
- Work collaboratively with the firm’s consultants and staff.
Job Requirements:
- CPA with “Senior Manager”-level experience at a major public accounting or consulting firm.
- Demonstrated accounting experience pertaining to the insurance industry. Experience with a variety of insurer types is a plus.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Proven technical skills and solid organizational skills.
- Proposal development experience.
- Proven technical ability and solid organizational skills.
- Ability to travel out of town for 10 weeks per year or more, as needed.
