- Abstract:
- In the second annual Global Business & Spending Monitor research program, we survey senior finance executives around the world on their changing priorities amid economic distress. Survey results reveal that companies are changing and adapting their practices to manage the bottom line and preserve profitability. Through a survey and in-depth interviews, senior finance executives at global companies outline their strategies for managing profitability, detailing cost control efforts and carefully monitoring financial performance, as well as identifying the areas in which they are sustaining spending and preparing themselves for the recovery. While many respondents indicate that they do not expect the economic outlook to fully recover until the first half of 2010 or later, respondents also tell us that despite these challenging conditions, they are positioning themselves strategically now to prevail in the future economic recovery.
